Lt. Lari Sevene with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office told 11 News shortly after the shooting, “we don’t have a lot of details, what we do know is that there was an altercation that had occurred, perhaps inside the store initially, and it spilled out into the parking lot and ultimately shots were fired.”
Tammy Bachelor from Colorado Springs was a witness to the shooting and was shaken by what she saw,
“horrible that somebody could do that to somebody else cause he was walking away, trying to get away, and he wouldn’t stop shooting.” She says she called 911 and warned others nearby, some oblivious to the fact that the shooter was still around, to take cover.
After the shooting,
McClelland apparently did not attempt to run. Witnesses say he stood just feet from the victim and was taken into custody a short time later. McClelland was seen at his video advisement in court Tuesday. He is being charged with First Degree Murder and will be held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center with no bond.
