Four students sitting at the back of the bus reported minor scrapes and bruises, but did not require treatment, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Justin Rumley. It was not immediately clear how many children were on the bus at the time of the crash. None were getting off the bus at the time of the crash,
Rumley said.School officials said Gutierrez was valued by staff and students alike, and had worked for the district for seven years.”Rosa worked in the kitchen at Marcus Whitman Cowiche Elementary School where she enjoyed interacting with the staff and students,” the school district wrote in a statement. “She always had a smile and sincerely cared for everyone around her. Rosa was an amazing person with a huge heart and was dearly loved by all. We are in shock and heartsick. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”It’s still early in the investigation,
but Rumley said there weren’t any obvious visibility issues that would have caused the crash and all the bus’ lights were working.
