have continually worked to make the court system better and more responsive to the needs of everyone it touches. My personal and professional ethics drive me to be that person that will stop and help a stranger in need, assist a colleague that has a question or problem, and be willing to tackle a problem by utilizing the strengths and knowledge of others around me. As a Magistrate in the Common Pleas Court I interact daily with civil and criminal attorneys and pro se litigants and defendants. I understand the personal attention that each individual coming into the Courthouse needs. As a dedicated public servant, I have given back to our communities. I am proud to be involved with the following organizations: Akron Bar Association and the Scanlon Inn of Court;
Friends of Hower House Board; Member of the Fraternal Order of Police Associate Lodge 68, Scholarship Committee; and Habitat for Humanity of Summit County,
Board of Trustees. My legal scholarship, court experience and community service make me the better candidate for the position of Judge for the Summit County Probate Court. In 22 years as a judge, I have made a difference in our community with innovative, cost effective court programming.
started a Senior Visitor Program to reach out to wards of the Court. With Jewish Family Services,
we recently began a Volunteer Guardian Program to provide trained guardians for those have no one. The new Help Desk assisted over 1,500 citizens with uncontested matters. Starting programs like these requires broad support, a willingness to consider stakeholders and judicial leadership.
Court is now involved in significant community collaboration and outreach. To improve transparency, the Court voluntarily underwent both a fiscal and performance audit and is in complete compliance. We work more closely with law enforcement on elder abuse issues.
