Women are campaigning to bring attention to lack of pay equity for women. In Pennsylvania women are paid 77 percent of what men earn. There are pay equity bills waiting to be passed in Congress. Big Business is against these laws so please contact your representatives and ask for equality for women in their paychecks. If everyone acts, a new law can be enacted. Jean Chapman Allentown

Justin Hallman has been promoted to full time assistant coach of theKutztownUniversity women’s basketball program. “Becoming the full time assistant honestly is a dream come true; especially here at Kutztown,” Hallman said. “There’s no place I’d rather be and to continue within the program in a larger role is something I’m truly excited about. I feel like I’ve worked really hard over the years to get to this point and I just greatly appreciate the opportunity. ” Hallman enters his third season as an assistant in 2014 15.
Women robbed in Allentown

Two women were robbed of their purses in Allentown on Friday night by a man with a rifle type weapon, police said. The women were checked at a hospital and released. Last Monday, a woman was robbed of her purse at the same spot by a man with a shotgun. Police are investigating a possible link between the crimes. Signature “Hesstinis” at Cosmopolitan’s rooftop Wave Nightclub put guests in a spirited frame of mind at the Hot in the City scholarship fundraiser July 22 hosted by Women’s Business Council. Merit scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors as well as women continuing their education. A first of its kind Leigh Valley celebrity auction conducted by council member Gladys Wiles raised more that than $2,000, which supplemented funds from ticket sales. A silent auction included a framed photograph donated by John DelGrosso Photography, an event sponsor.

I have come to view virtually ALL nurses as angels in disguise, performing God’s work here on Earth for their patient’s well being, day in and day out. Granted, the extent of the reaction may surprise me.
