dr martens floral shoes as tiny Norwich coffee shop celebrates its fifth birthday
A tiny caf tucked away in the heart of Norwich is offering coffee lovers a chance to enjoy a barista masterclass as it celebrates its fifth birthday.
The Window coffee shop, at 25 Wensum Street, has become known for its flavoursome blends and minute measurements it can fit just six people at a squeeze and it has been claimed that it is the smallest caf in the world.
For owner Hayley Gosling, coffee is more than a kick start in the morning she has been working in cafes since she was 14 and scooped the top female award in the National Barista Championships 2011.
She said: “When I launched the shop, it was a big risk as there wasn’t much else happening in the area. I was surrounded by empty shops and not many people I spoke to thought a shop here would work, let alone a speciality coffee shop.
“I have a very loyal customer base these days, I’d even go as far as to call it a coffee community. Rarely a day goes by when there isn’t a queue outside the door.”
customers can get their hands on Mrs Gosling’s coffee machine a gadget she has nicknamed “the Ferrari of the coffee world”.
“I’ve decided to mark my fifth anniversary by giving something back to the customers who’ve supported me. People are always asking me if they can have a go on the coffee machine, if I can train them up as a barista or teach them how to extract the perfect espresso,” she said. “There really is a love and appreciation of high quality coffee in Norwich now and I know, just from the amount of coffee beans I sell for home use, that people are keen to learn more.”
To be in with a chance to have a barista lesson, write your details on one of the Window Shop coffee cup sleeves this week. The winner will be chosen by Friday, February 13.
